Ed. Note: The below email exchanges were
between our Legion Riders Director, Ruben Aguirre, and the Commander
of the Special Troops Battalion at Ft. Sam Houston,
Lt Col Barbara Holcomb.
It's best to read from the bottom up.

Dennis, would it be appropriate to put these emails
on our Legion web site for all to read. I have
known Barbara Holcomb back when she was a Captain,
she is now LT.
Col.
She is in charge of the group of men/women that do
the funerals at Ft Sam Houston Cemetery along with
the Military Police and a few other duties. (Ed.
Note: She is the Commander of the Special
Troops Battalion at Ft. Sam.) She is a
great person and believes dearly in what our Riders
are doing. I just wanted to thank her troops. If
you do put it on the web site please remove all of
this email and also her email address. Thanks

RE: Good Seeing you today
Barb, you are seeing another part of us (Debi, I and
our Riders) that was not expressed before. As you
well know we are extremely patriotic and firmly
believe in honoring any and ALL fallen warriors of
our nation. Our motorcycle group (American Legion
Riders) are composed of Legionnaires, all are
veterans and we want to make a difference in how our
country shows these families of our fallen warriors
the honors and respect they deserve. Please extend
our heart felt gratitude to your organization of
men/women that contributed to the _expression of
faith, loyalty and honors to these families. Their
job is not being unrecognized; in fact it is being
recognized throughout our community and our nation.
They are performing a wonderful service and an
outstanding job by your troops. Please inform them
that they are a much needed part to the closure for
these families. Our Riders have taken a personal
commitment to providing this contribution (of
attendance) to as many funerals (missions) as we are
asked to participate. We will continue this
endeavor for as long as the need is required. I
extend my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to you and
your troops for the excellent job that is being
done. God bless.

Good Seeing you today
It was great to see
you today - sorry we didn't have time to talk a
little more. I just wanted to say thank you for
what you are doing. It was really a touching
sight to see all the bikes with the flags
flying, leading the procession. With as many AD
funerals as there've been - it takes a lot of
time. Please pass my thanks on to the whole
group. I was with the Garrison Cdr today and
she was impressed as well. The Caisson team and
the Honor Guard are all my Soldiers, which is
why I was concerned about the bikes and the
horses. I should have known you would have it
all worked out. Thanks again - hopefully we can
get together soon.
