BAMC: Brad Pierce. A visit
was made to the SFAC to see how the remodeling of the day room was coming.
All looks great except for some peeling on the molding.
SAFETY: Brown Zavala gave
helpful hints on riding in a large group; i.e., lane changes, leaving from
signal lights, will need to split larger groups into two.
OLD BUSINESS:
2007 ALR Romp: Report given by Brad. He
has prepared a presentation to submit for our bid for the Romp: 10 slides,
including site location, pictures of the site, planned events, Post 593 ALR
capabilities and weather comparison with North Texas.
Lonesome Dove: Brad will try to contact the
Commander at BAMC to see what we can to do to help increase participation
from the SFAC. Possibly, if need be, Rose Lewis will help to draft a letter
to the Commander. Hugh will be asked to approve the letter before its
submission.
Hail and Farewell: It was
a great success. Thanks to all. Paul Crafton volunteered his home for the
next H & H. It will be at the end of September in order to move into
quarterly cycle.
NEW BUSINESS
Kevin has created a group on MSN (Converse ALR) for
Post 593 ALR. He will post pictures and information of events, etc.
Steak Dinner and Breakfast: Legion 2nd
Vice, Jane, is awaiting final word as to our participation in such, whether
it be as a combined effort or unit by unit. Jack P. (Trigger) has made the
suggestion to have a car wash during the breakfast as a fundraiser. Sylvia
suggested a bake sale for Steak Night.
Upcoming Rallies and Events: Ruben requests that
information be sent to the Assistant Director so that the info can be
printed and distributed at the meetings or by e-mail.
For the Holidays: Debi suggested ALR volunteer to
prepare baskets for families. Paul will chair this committee. Suggestion
also made to do a toy run. Brad will check into possible recipients through
military and Debi will make contacts locally.
The ALR is going to begin presenting a Certificate
of Appreciation to those that make the extra effort, Legionnaire, Auxiliary,
SAL, ALR or employees. It may be done or a monthly or quarterly basis.
George volunteered to create such certificate.
Connie and Brent will be having a weekend get
together at Randolph Recreation Area August 19-21st to celebrate
Connie’s b-day. Please check with them for info.
Trigger asked that all save wine bottles so that
they can bottle peach wine.
Converse would like the ALR to be in the Night in
Old Converse Parade October 8, 2005. They are trying to put us in the color
guard position.
ALR has been invited to attend the 9-11 Memorial
Ceremony at the Gunsmoke Post, September 10th. Brad is to chair
the sign-up of riders and confirm logistics.
OVERALLS: For fun let’s make this our mess dress.
Decorate them as you wish.
Brown will again try to get enough riders for a
rider’s course to be held at Lackland.
New Members: Mike and Rosemary Lewis, Terry Harry,
and Sean Lowder were voted on and accepted into the Riders. Welcome!
Legion Early Bird Renewals now coming out. Make sure
to renew before ALR renewals begin in October. That’s per Debi. You better
pay attention.

and the winner of $45.50 was Sean Lowder.
